She also said she had a passion in designing clothes since childhood. “My inspiration came from child hood. I was a creative child. Since I was a kid back in Primary School, in all my books I used to draw pictures of beautiful dresses and colour them. So right now, I am following my passion.” She said. “I did some few short online courses on fashion design, but what drives me to sit down and make this designs is passion and I thank God for the talent.” She added.
Mercy also revealed that they will be launching a male collection soon. “I have received a lot of request to design an all-male collection and I will be launching it soon.” Her collection can be found on her on-line shop and social media platforms under ‘Masiwear’ at affordable prices. Her market demand is wide and apart from the local market, she receives orders from America, Canada, Australia and other Countries.
She mentioned that she wears her designs all the time, and wherever she goes, people always stop her and ask if she is wearing one of her designs. She also admires designs from Cato Fashions and Warrior Apparel.
Apart from being a singer and a business woman, Mercy engages in community development activities that include; working with widows and orphans to improve their lives. She is also the Ambassador for The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Kenya and advocates for the plight of refugees and Brand Ambassador for Coca-cola.
Her advice to young people who want to venture into business is ‘Commit your Plans to God and Just do it.’ “Do not worry about failure, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t make it. Keep working hard on your dreams and God will see you through it all. Everything will work out by faith.” She concluded.
