Gospel Singer Evelyn Wanjiru Reveals She Is Pregnant,Expecting First Baby After 10 Years In Marriage With her Husband Agundabweni Akweyu.

Gospel singer Evelyn Wanjiru has revealed that she is pregnant. The singer and her husband gospel music producer Agundabweni Akweyu revealed this during an exclusive interview with Bwenieve Digital.

I met a bubbly Evelyn and husband Agundabweni in Nairobi town when they were having last minute preparations before going for a photo shoot at Vision Plaza on Mombasa road. That is when I noticed a cute baby bump on Evelyn.

On arrival to the venue, I engage in a conversation with the couple. Evelyn narrated how she found out she was pregnant. “I was out of the Country when I discovered I was pregnant.” she recalls. “I was having the symptoms, throwing up, tiredness and a friend of mine suggested I take a pregnancy test. I was anxious and after waiting for some time I saw the two lines confirming my pregnancy. I was excited and called my husband to give him the good news.” She narrates. Agundabweni chuckles. “When she called me and told me the news, I was overwhelmed with emotions. I asked her to repeat the test and I also told her when she comes back to the country we would go for a proper checkup.” He says.

The couple has been married for 10 years and have been struggling to get a child. They acknowledge that there was always pressure to have children, especially for them because they are in the limelight, and some fans would go overboard and throw around insensitive comments, but they always kept their calm and trusted in God.

Evelyn says her cravings are not weird but she loves mangoes especially those from Ukambani. There was one time her husband had to drive all the way to Machakos to bring her beloved mangoes.

Agundabweni says the love they have for each other, faith in God and understanding each other plays a key role in their marriage. They also had a support system of friends and family who do not judge them.

It is also a learning process for both of them as they prepare to be first time parents. “There was a time I was talking about buying a ‘mucking tosh’, the one you can lay the baby on and change dippers and my husband thought I was talking of computers.” She says with a laugh. Agundabweni admits that he is always searching on internet and asking his friends who have kids on certain things about babies. They are excited to be first time parents, learn new things and looking forward to be with their baby.

Evelyn encourages women who are in a childless marriage to trust in God and never give up hope. “Look at me, ten years in marriage and I am now blessed.” She says. Agundabweni on the other hand asked couples to be supportive to one another and trust in God.

Evelyn is known for composing powerful worship songs and I have a feeling one is in the making to thank God for what he has done for them.

Congratulations to Evelyn and Agundabweni and we wish them all the best.
