Kenyan Gospel Disk Jockey, DJ Mzito says he looks for content and creativity when sampling Gospel music to play. Speaking to Bwenieve Digital, the DJ said that not all music can be played. “I always look for inspiring content that has the essence of worship and creativity in a gospel song before I add it to my play list.” He said. “This shows how much work and effort has been put to create the music.” He added.
The DJ noted that today’s gospel music is more of live recording and worship. Saying most of the gospel songs produced this year are live performed. He encouraged young people who have talent to follow their dreams. “If you have singing talent out there come out and show it to the world. There is social media and who knows, someone will recognise you.”
The born again Gospel DJ was speaking during the Sifa Fest event at Parklands Baptist Church which saw various Gospel artists from Africa perform. They included Mkhululi Bhebhe from Zimbabwe, Mary Atieno and Godwill Babette from Kenya, and Boaz Danken and Rehema Simfukwe from Tanzania.
DJ Mzito plays on @K24tv every Sunday on a show called The Switch from 11am-1pm.
