Kenya has emerged top in digital readiness ranking in Sub Sahara Africa beating Countries like South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria. The 2022 Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index report ranks Kenya at position 17 and is followed by South Africa and Ghana at positions 21 and 23 respectively in digital readiness.
The survey also shows that Kenya ranks the 28th in overall Index, a second position in the sub-Saharan region after South Africa, which came up at number 24. Kenya is followed by Ghana (32), Nigeria (34), Tanzania (42), Uganda (43), Ethiopia (45), Mozambique (46), Angola (47).
The Index report ranks countries for overall competitiveness based on their logistics strengths, business climates and their digital readiness. Digital readiness assesses digital skills, training, Internet access, e-commerce growth, investment climate, and ability to nurture startups. Readiness also includes sustainability factors such as renewable energy mix, lower emissions intensity and green initiatives.
African economies have struggled to improve competitiveness over other Continents in infrastructure, business and emerging markets, digital skills and sustainability. Despite the challenges brought in by Covid-19, the Continent is showing resilience and figuring ways to adapt to new technologies and feature in emerging markets.
