The Lords Unprecedented Strategy ‘Praise!’

The children of Israel, had stayed in the wilderness for 40 years on their way to the Promised Land. One thing that captures my imagination was their faith in God and form of praise. Yes they had their short comings, but each time they came back to their senses and praised God.

Joshua was in charge of leading the Israelites to their final destination. The story of ‘The wall of Jericho’ shows the power and strength of praise and worship. The battle was not won through fighting but singing and praising God and He manifested His power.

Joshua6:3-5, NIV: “March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, March around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.

The Israelites followed this instructions given by the Lord without questioning Him and on the seventh day, victory was won. Joshua 6:20 NIV;When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.”

There were no war strategies and scaling of the walls using ladders and ropes. But the strategy of praise in defeating the enemy. We have every reason to rise up against the enemy, Satan, because God is for us. The devil has no room in our lives because Jesus saved us all by dying on the cross, and freed us from the bondage of sin.

Therefore, we should live our lives in praise. Praise God for what He has done and what He is going to do. Sickness, alcoholism, bitterness, sexual immorality, cheating, rage, etc are the Walls of Jericho erected by the enemy in our lives and we have been given power to walk and fight through the Holy Spirit.

Let us believe that we have the Power to break the Walls of Jericho and bring hope, faith, love, forgiveness, happiness, truth and peace in our lives through praise of Christ who strengthens us!
