The Wait is an inspiring documentary of what God can do in our lives. The 10 year journey of Gospel Singer Evelyn Wanjiru and husband, Gospel Music Producer Agundabweni Akweyu from the time of the wedding, to the waiting period when they are blessed with Baby Mshindi.
The couple met in church in Nakuru City and dated for four years before getting married. In the documentary, Agundabweni reveals that their wedding was not all glittery, but they enjoyed every part of it. Their wedding rings cost Ksh. 1,000 and the whole wedding cost was Ksh 75,000 which was what they could afford.
During the time she found out she was pregnant, the family was in mourning after losing the patriarch of the family, Agundabweni’s father, Rev Ken Akweyu and the pregnancy was good news to the family.
The documentary also shows how Evelyn was treated to a surprise baby shower organized by her husband and sister in law Maureen together with friends. She could not hide her emotions when her friends surprised her with a white coloured theme baby shower. Evelyn wore a blue long dress accessorized with colourful Maasai jewelry. Her friends and family wore white outfits and shared congratulatory messages to the couple.
Evelyn also shares her pregnancy journey and encourages people to wait upon the Lord. “My faith has gone to another dimension and I can never doubt God. Any one going through struggles and has been waiting upon Him. Look at us now.” She said. She also released a thanks giving song titled ‘Asante’.
The couple also shared their love message to their unborn baby. “Daddy and Mummy are ready to receive you and treat you like a king, give you everything that we can afford.” Said Agundabweni. “We pray for you baby Mshindi and we believe you will be a great person in this world, you will honour, cherish and respect your parents and people who surround you and you will become a great influence in the society because your name is Mshindi. Everything you touch and everywhere you go, you shall be a winner.” Said Evelyn.
On 6th April, 2022 the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Mshindi Akweyu Agundabweni.
