How to Overcome Laziness and be Productive

Are there times you wake up and feel like sitting and doing nothing? You are not motivated to carry out the task at hand, you procrastinate your duties and yet you are too comfortable with this? Laziness is habitual and not natural to human nature.

Laziness may hinder your daily work output and may cost you a lot. Here are seven solutions to put in mind if you feel lazy.

  • Have a plan/ goals

If you set out your plans and goals, both long and short term, you will have a reason to wake up everyday and achieve them. If you don’t have any goal to achieve, then you have nothing to lose and you will be lazy. Find a goal that will make you work hard.

  • Have a to-do-list each day

The list will outline your activities of the day and you won’t have time to sit around and waste. Plan your next day each night. This will give you a clear mind set and time to be ready for the next days work. Your day will become more productive and free of laziness. Start with the most difficult task when you are fresh in the morning.

  • Have a support system/environment

The saying, ‘show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are’ applies here. Laziness is contagious. If you have lazy friends or are in a lazy environment, you will fall back and relax. Have a company that inspires you to achieve your goals and pushes you further.

  • Be organized

Have everything around you in an organized manner. Let your work space be clean and welcoming. This will motivate you to work harder and faster.

  • Positive self esteem

Positive thinking of yourself will make you confident and ready to do your work well. If every time you beat your self with words like; ‘I can’t do it’ or ‘I am lazy’ then you become what you think you are. Each day motivate your self because you are your own source of motivation.

  • Have a morning routine

Following your morning routine is very important. It will determine how your day goes. For example; If you are used to waking up as early as 5 AM and you get to wake up at 6:30 AM, then your routine is disrupted and you won’t accomplish what you wanted well. You will rush on things.

  • Sleep well

A good night sleep will help you to wake up rejuvenated and fresh for the next day. Make sure your bed is comfortable and your bedding is clean. Get at least 6-8 hours of sleep. Have a fixed time of waking up and sleeping for your body to get used to the routine.
