“I am One Of You And I Will Be Happy If Musicians Come Out And Endorse My Presidential Bid”Reuben Kigame Tells Kenyan Musicians

In an interview with Bwenieve Digital, Gospel Singer and Presidential Aspirant Reuben Kigame urged fellow musicians to support his presidential bid. “I am one of you and I will be happy if musicians come out and endorse my presidential bid.” He said.

“If there was a musician contesting for presidency today, I will be shouting about it, because we have a chance to put into office someone who can fight for us.” He explained. Kigame is a presidential aspirant running on an independent ticket for the 2022 August general elections in kenya.

He also noted that artists including musicians and content creators have been fighting for better payment of their hard work. “I have been on the fore front on advocating for musicians and other artists to get better pay on their royalties. Most of the money goes to marketing and distributing companies and leave the musicians without much pay.” Some musicians end up penniless when exploited in the name of ‘helping them’ to produce their songs.

He also talked of laws surrounding the music industry such as music copy right laws and taxation, bearing in mind that there are legal frame works that musicians have to be aware and conversant with, to avoid getting into the bad side of the law or be exploited.
