The Kitenge Office Wear
There was a time when the Nation had decided that on Friday, employees will be wearing Kenyan attires especially “Vitenge”. It was a trend and every body was on board with it. Most Friday you would see people in their African wear.
Fashion designers have now adopted the use of Kitenge fabric in a bold, authoritative designs that suits their clients. The Kitenge wear has also been adopted in the Western Nations as many celebrities adorn the cloths.
In wedding ceremonies it is popular to see the Kitenge element incorporated especially in an all African theme. It is no longer the old ways of designing, but designers have incorporated both the african and western style to make the kitenge wear look more fashionable and trendy.
However, Kenyan’s are used to wearing imported second hand cloths popularly known as “Mitumba’s”. They are not used to wearing their own designs like people from West Africa. This is due to the high cost of locally made cloths and fabric and they have to be custom made.
