Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came to the limelight when he refused to leave Ukraine and seek asylum on the on going Russia-Ukraine war. In a televised speech, Volodymr said that he will not leave Ukraine capital city Kyiv and he will stay with his people till the last minute. So who is Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy was once an actor and comedian before joining politics. He became president in 2019 after more than 73 percent of ballots. He has positioned himself as an anti-establishment and anti-corruption figure. Zelenskyy promised to end Ukraine’s protracted conflict with Russia as part of his presidential campaign.

Born 25 January 1978, Volodymyr grew up as a native Russian speaker in Kryvyi Rih. He joined acting at the age of 17. He is also a graduate of law from the Kyiv Nationak Economic University.

He might be termed as one of the most vulnerable Presidents in Europe. When the war began, he called upon Ukrainians to remain calm and avoid panic. He did not flee the nation but remained in the capital Kyiv with his family. He has also called upon other nations to support Ukraine and also Europe Countries to impose sanctions on Russia. Zelenskyy has repeatedly called for direct talks with Russian president Vladimir Putin to end the war.

If the Ukrainian defence stands the test of time, 44 year old Zelenskyy will be remembered by history. If Ukraine prevails, he will be a legend.
