Uhuru, Ruto Campaign Trails Take Different Trajectories
President Uhuru Kenyatta while addressing citizens after opening the Mama Margaret Kenyatta Children Hospital in Nairobi County’s Korogocho informal settlement today Friday said he will not be deterred from his mission of uniting Kenyans and concluding his big four agendas.
He hit back at his deputy president William Ruto whose Kenya Kwanza camp has been criticising him and accusing him of betrayal and wanting to remain in power from the sidelines saying, threats and insult won’t discourage him.
He also asked the youths to be wary of politicians who want to use them for their political interests and asked the boda boda riders not to accept to be incited, saying he will soon arrange a meeting with them to discuss way forward on how they can improve the sector and maximise benefits from their hard work.
The newly opened hospital is a four-storey 350-bed hospital that will help in decongestion of Kenyatta National Referral Hospital.
DP’s Ruto Campaigns In President Uhuru’s Back Yard
The campaign trail in Gatundu was expected to be a continues attack on the president. However, DP Ruto and his allies toned down the attacks on Uhuru. Addressing Mutomo residents, Ruto asked them to talk to the president not to sabotage his presidential bid.
He recalled how they had worked together and called upon the residents to support him. Ruto’s tone and address were calm, unlike his previous meetings where he took hard stands on the president. Other UDA members especially from the mountain have been seen accusing the president of betrayal in their past campaign rallies.
